When you think of sleep related gadgets, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is an alarm clock. You’ve been using it to help you know when to get up since you were a young adult. With advances in technology, however, there are plenty of other sleep-related gadgets that you can use to get a good night’s rest and wake up on time. Don’t be afraid of technology; use it for every aspect of your life, including sleep.

A smartphone, like an LG Android phone, can be used like an alarm clock, too. All you have to do is set the alarm and put it on your night stand, or someplace else where you will hear it. One great advantage to using a cell phone as an alarm clock is that it runs on battery power, so your alarm will always go off, even if your power goes out. You can also download apps for counting sheep.

Another great gadget for helping you fall asleep is an iPod or an MP3 player. Some people have an easier time falling asleep while listening to music, so this might work for you too. If you sleep in the same room as someone else, they will appreciate your wearing headphones so that they are not disrupted by your music, although you can use a traditional stereo if you prefer not to wear headphones to bed.

There are lots of other sleep-related gadgets you can find, like a pillow with speakers attached, but a smartphone and an MP3 player are the most common and practical. Happy sleeping!

Until a few years ago, one could have safely said that even an individual highly addicted to gadgets will have to drop everything to enjoy a good night’s sleep. However, there are numerous sleep related gadgets that have become very popular today.

A pillow that comes with attached speakers and which can be connected to one’s personal music player can help the individual enjoy soft music or even a lullaby at night without disturbing ones partner. The music can continue for as long as the individual wants.

Those who find it very difficult to get up can make use of a role away alarm clock. Once the snooze button is set, the alarm clock that is shaped like a cylinder, will roll away and will keep rolling and making noise until you wake up, find it and switch it off. It is a sure shot method for those who find it difficult to wake up despite the alarm.

There are numerous wrist bands that come with preset timers that wake you up once the sleep time ends. There are other acupressure related devices that will help you sleep faster. Technology has helped manufacturers, devices that will assess the neural patterns of the brain and will determine whether the individual has reached deep sleep or whether it is time for the individual to get up.

The brain wakes up and becomes active much before the body wakes up. This device will keep track of the brain waves and will wake your body accordingly. Using such devices can be fun but it also raises the question whether involving gadgets in sleep is advisable for long term health.

Habits may Need to be Broken for Healing

The word ‘addiction’ can be applied to activities like gambling. It’s hard to say why one gambler may get addicted and another doesn’t, but the fact remains that gambling addiction is real and as much trouble as alcoholism.

Some good ways to deal with a gambling addiction are:

  • The most obvious one is don’t gamble. Ever.

  • Play arcade games where a winner gets extra turns or tokens; no money and no sports betting sites.
  • Only play games that pay off in non-redeemable credits, points or kudos.
  • Don’t go to bars or casinos; find another way to entertain yourself.
  • Stay away from restaurants that have poker machines.
  • Talk to someone about it, don’t keep it a secret. Often having someone the addict trusts and knows is a relief to the addict. Keeping a secret like that is very hard, especially if the addict is aware of addiction symptoms that they are displaying involuntarily.
  • Make a practice of having only a few dollars readily available. Don’t carry credit or debit cards, checks or any cash over $10. If anything over that is required, then do without it.
  • Don’t hang out with the same people. Hang out with people that don’t gamble so it’s something not being done, rather than something to be stopped.

WD Scorpio Blue

The hard drives for the computers are getting bigger and bigger everyday in terms of their capacity. The limit of the largest hard drives easily available ranges till 3 Tb and it is constantly growing. The drives performance is at par with the drives used in the desktop. Like all the other devices even this comes with a set of negative features and the so called ‘set’ has one negative feature i.e. even though the performance is great, but still it is not as good as the 7200 rpm ones. There are 2 versions of this drive, the normal one, the blue edition which comes with 3 years manufacturer’s warranty and the Black edition which has a 5 year manufacturer warranty.  The Western Digital Scorpio Blue has got a really nice design weighing about 150 grams and the PCB is neatly pressed the body of the drive.

Nvidia Kal-El

The Superhero from Krypton, Kal-El who is better known as Superman to us earthling no longer stays in Metropolis. Kal El will soon be a part of the tablets ant mobile phones. Isn’t all these a bit confusing?  Kal El Tegra 3 is the new upcoming processors from Nvidia, the experts in the field of Graphics Processing Units and Chipset technologies which is based in Santa Carla, California.

The Kal El Tegra 3 processors are designed especially for the tablets and the notebooks. These quad core processors are going to offer a stiff competition to the other players in the field. The announcement and demonstration of the Nvidia Kal El Tegra 3 processors come close to the heels of the recently announced Snapdragon quad core 2.5 GHz mobile processors by Qualcomm which has been received with much hype in the portable world. The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors are expected to be made available in the devices somewhere in the 2012. The Nvidia Kal El Tegra 3 processors also featuring four cores are the next generation processors after the Tegra 2 series of the Mobile processors by Nvidia. The Kal EL Tegra 3 processors, when compared to the previous Tegra 2 processors are more than 5 times superior in terms of the performance. The Kal El Tegra 3 SoC processor is packed with features and its specification includes four Cortex A9 processor cores which also includes twelve Graphics Processing Unit cores. It can support ultra HD resolutions ranging up to 2560X1600. It is Kal El’s generation now and as projected, the future superhero processors are going to be Wayne, Logan and Stark which will be available in few years. The Tegra 3 processors are faster than the T7200 Core 2 Duo desktop processors. One can expect to find the Kal El Tegra 3 powered devices on the shelves by mid 2011.
