Tablet PCs seem to be everywhere nowadays. Cell phone carriers are promoting them, you see people using them in meetings and at coffee shops, and you wonder if maybe you should buy one yourself. If you’re considering it, then here are some practical uses of tablet PCs:

  • Portable computer: Although laptops have come a long way and are much more portable than they used to be, tablet PCs are smaller, lighter and are easy to take with you no matter where you go.
  • Web browsing: With tablets being able to access the Internet through either a WiFi connection or a cell phone network, tablet PCs are great for accessing the Internet wherever you go. This makes it easy to check email, get information on the fly, and keep up with your networking efforts.

Your Laptop Can be Repaired

If your laptop computer isn’t working right, doesn’t work at all, or seems to have some kind of serious problem that has to be dealt with, you’ll need to decide whether you want to replace it or whether it would be better to just get it fixed. A lot of people buy very inexpensive laptops, and they just end up throwing them out when they break or when they stop working as well as would be hoped. Others pay a lot of money for the laptops that they own, and they don’t want to be required to get rid of them if something minor goes wrong. They would rather repair them and keep using them.

That also makes sense for people who have a lot of sensitive information on their laptops. They don’t want to have to transfer all of that, set up all of their Internet information and bookmarks again, and go through the hassle of getting going. It’s easier to fix what’s wrong. It’s also possible to upgrade your laptop or have a professional do it for you, so that it runs faster, has more memory, or can perform other tasks more efficiently. If you notice your laptop computer getting ‘glitchy’ and having some trouble, it may be a good idea to take it in for service before it quits completely.

If it suddenly stops working, you may end up without the information that it has stored, and some of that information could be important. Be sure to back up your computer frequently, and you won’t run as much risk of having a serious problem or losing a lot of important data should your computer decide that it doesn’t want to work anymore. Also, keep your computer clean by dustng it frequently and keeping it away from pet hair and other items that might damage it. It’ll last longer that way.

Explaining To Your Computer Technician

If you are having computer problems and want to call in a computer technician to fix them, you need to make sure you know exactly what is wrong with your computer. Your computer may need something that will only require telephone help, so if you know exactly what is wrong you can save yourself and the computer technician a lot of time.

When preparing to call someone to fix your computer, make sure you describe exactly what it is doing wrong. Simply stating that your computer doesn’t work won’t help the technician to solve the problem. Give the technician the exact steps you went through when you discovered your computer had a problem.

Communicate clearly what your problem is. Make sure you speak slowly and don’t get frustrated if they keep asking you the same questions. They just want to help you solve your computer problem. While they may ask you to perform the same steps you already did yourself, they are just trying to eliminate what potential problems your computer could have.

Everyone gets frustrated with computers, and you are no exception. Make sure you don’t get angry and remember that the person on the other end of the phone is just trying to help you out. If you are receiving technical support over the phone, make sure there is no noise in your background such as a loud child or a barking dog. This will only cause more frustration for both of you if you can’t hear each other.

Finally, if you are not having any luck over the phone, it would probably be best to take your computer into a computer repair shop. That way the technician can see for themselves exactly what is going on with your computer. This option may be a bit pricier than the other, but you will be able to get quicker help this way.

Watch What You Download

If you are always on your computer, you may find many programs out there that claim to make your computer run faster or even ones that say they will detect and remove viruses. However, many of these programs are false and will instead download malicious software onto your computer.

If you suspect that you have downloaded one of these programs, you need to remove it right away before it infects your computer even more. You may also send it to someone else without even knowing it.  So be careful if you are using software like ares p2p otherwise you might share a virus with your friends.

First, make sure that it really is a virus. Your computer may just be acting strange for some other reason. Power down your computer and unplug it from the wall and the Internet. Wait about ten minutes and then plug everything back in again.

If your computer is still having issues, then try running your anti-virus software. If you don’t have any, there are many free programs that you can get online, but make sure they are reputable and virus-free. Do an Internet search online about the program if you aren’t sure.

After you run your anti-virus software, make sure to follow the instructions to remove any viruses it may have found. You can also do an Internet search on the viruses so that you can be more informed about what is infecting your computer.

The important thing to note is that you shouldn’t go to websites that you are unsure of. If you want to download free software make sure they are reputable ones like the open source media player VLC Player.  If a website looks shady, it probably is. Never download anything without first checking it out.

There are many viruses out there that can get your personal information which can then be used against you. It is very difficult to have to trace everywhere a hacker used your credit card info. It can and will cause a lot of heartache if someone has access to your bank accounts, so make sure you are safe even when you are online.

Common Laptop Problems

While laptops are great because they are so portable, they are often harder to fix than a desktop computer. This is mainly because everything comes together in a laptop and there aren’t that many individual pieces like there are in a desktop.

One of the main problems that happens in a laptop is overheating. A laptop is moved around often and tends to get more damaged than a desktop. Since laptops are smaller, there is less space for air inside them which is often results in the laptop getting too hot and overheating. They are also more difficult to fix because you can’t just open up the laptop and remove the fan to replace it with a new one.

An overheating laptop can cause damage inside of the computer and may also damage anything around it, such as tables and furniture.

Usually if one part of the laptop fails, the whole laptop may need to be replaced. As laptops are getting less and less expensive, it may be beneficial to purchase a new one instead of trying to get an old one fixed.

The best way to keep your laptop healthy is to avoid using it more than you should. If you are away from it for long periods of time, turn it off instead of letting it run. You might also want to invest in a laptop cooling pad which is placed on the bottom of the laptop and has fans running in order to keep the temperature of the laptop down.

If you find that you are having problems with your laptop, try taking it to a computer technician to determine what the problem is. It may be something minor that can easily be fixed, but if there is major damage to your laptop, you may just have to get the whole thing replaced.

My Laptop Won’t Turn On

If you have a laptop, you are probably used it its portability. Millions of people these days primarily use laptops for their business as well as their personal pleasures. However, having something go wrong with your laptop can be quite a frustrating experience. When you depend on something and it lets you down, the stress levels can quickly rise. So what do you do when your laptop won’t turn on?

First, make sure your battery works. It could be that your laptop has lost its charge and the battery is dead. Try plugging it in and see if that works. If not, check to make sure you are holding the power button down properly. You may not be pressing it in far enough to turn the laptop on.

If you are pressing the power button correctly and your laptop is plugged in and it still isn’t working, make sure that the battery charging light in on with your laptop. If not, maybe the outlet that your laptop is plugged into is bad. Try moving your laptop and plugging it into a different outlet.

If it still won’t work, you may have a short in your AC adapter. This can happen for any reason, such as it being dropped, getting a little moisture on it or even being in extreme temperatures. If the AC adapter is not the problem, then you will probably need to replace your battery.

Replacing the battery is not as difficult as it sounds, but it may be expensive. You can just remove the battery from your laptop and take it to any computer repair shop. If they don’t have a replacement they may be able to order one for you.

Regular care of your laptop will help keep it maintained and up-to-date. It may also prevent any problems later on down the road.

My Laptop Runs Slow

If you primarily use a laptop, then you probably love it for its portability and speed. However, just like with regular use of anything, your laptop can slow down in its speed. But instead of taking it in for repairs first, what else can you do to fix it at home?

With normal use of your laptop you have probably downloaded many pictures, songs and even programs to your system. Your laptop is not the same as it once was because it now has all this new software on it. One way to help with speeding your computer up is to defrag your system. Defragging your laptop will help take all that unused space and group it all together so that your computer doesn’t have to wade through empty files in order to find something.

Defragging also helps your computer run smoothly because it doesn’t have to search so much when opening up programs or going to web pages.

If you have defragged your computer and it is still running slow, you may want to run your anti-virus software to see if there are any viruses on your computer. Viruses can maliciously attack your computer and slow it down while infecting it. Run your anti-virus and remove any viruses that it finds.

You also want to make sure that you are up-to-date on all of your anti-virus software. There are new viruses coming out every day and if you keep current with them, your computer will quickly detect viruses and prevent them from entering your laptop.

By regular maintenance of your laptop, you will help to keep it running quickly and smoothly. If you are still having problems, you may want to take your laptop to a computer technician so that he can figure out what else may be wrong with your computer.

Laptop Problems

Having a laptop can be fun and exciting, especially because it is so portable. However, stress levels can rise very quickly when a laptop starts having problems.

If you are in the process of using your laptop and it has frozen and won’t work, there are a few different solutions you can try. First, you want to disconnect the power cord from the laptop. Next, remove the battery and wait about 30 seconds. Put the battery back in to the laptop and plug the power cord back in. Turn the laptop on and you should find that it works like normal.

This solution also works if your laptop has not waken from its sleep or hibernate mode. Removing the battery can be a quick fix for most laptops, but if it is constantly freezing up or not waking up you may want to take it in to a computer repair shop to be looked at.

Sometimes a laptop will randomly turn off while you are in the middle of working on it. If this happens you want to make sure that your laptop hasn’t gotten overheated. This can happen if it has been running too long or even if the laptop is in an area with extreme temperatures.

If this happens regularly, you may want to invest in a laptop cooling pad. This is placed underneath the laptop and helps cool it off with extra fans. That way, if your laptop is moved around a lot or constantly on, you will have no problems with overheating.

Laptops are fun and portable, but they can also be tricky when faced with problems. Make sure you regularly keep your laptop up-to-date and take extra care of your laptop so that it doesn’t get into bad shape. Sometimes it’s better to just get a new laptop when the old one stops working like it should.
