Apple Launches the New iPad

Apple’s famous founder and CEO took the stage on March 2nd to unveil the successor to the highly successful iPad. The iPad 2 will be facing a higher level of competition from other manufacturers than the iPad did. When last year the iPad was launched, there was hardly any competition. But the scenario has changed completely now with more equally matched tablets now in the market.

The new iPad comes with a dual core processor that is called as the A5, which runs at an unknown speed. This processor is told to have twice as much power as the older version of iPad which had an A4 processor. There are two new cameras. One camera at the back for taking pictures and one in front for video calling. The clarity of the cameras leaves a lot to be desired for. The screen resolution stands as the same old iPad, but the output clarity gives out at High Definition. The new iPad will come with a newer version of iOS. Steve Jobs took the stage to rub the success of iPad on its competitors.

He announced that the iPad has more than 65,000 applications as opposed to 3500 applications for Honeycomb from Android. They also announced that ipad has been the most successful of its product launches with more sales than that of the famous iPad.  The iPad is given the higher processor power to increase the gaming power of the device. The ipad has proved troublesome to other sole gaming consoles such as the PSP and Nintendo DS. Facetime has been activated which allows video conferencing between iPads, iPhone and iMacs. It does not have anything groundbreaking that is always expected of Apple.

Struck by a thunderbolt

Thunderbolt technology is the first iteration of the Intel’s much awaited Light Peak. Light Peak  is the  which is the new Input output  technology which is being developed with a aim of developing a unified interface which can be used to replace many existing interface protocols like firewire, SATA, HDMI, USB etc . The Thunderbolt technology is already available in the MacBook Pro notebooks by Apple and at present no other devices `have that technology built in. Many memory storage companies like Seagate have already developed compatible products for the Thunderbolt technology and it will hit the market in the mid 2011. The Thunderbolt technology has a lot of advantages over the existing technologies.

The Thunderbolt technology by Intel offers a rapid data transfer rates with their dual Input- output technology which uses the features of both the Display port and PCI express protocols allowing it to offer peak bi directional transfer speeds ranging up to 10 GB/sec theoretically and this will be more than twice the speed offered by the recent USB 3.0 technology which has got a theoretical peak of around 4.8 GB/sec.

The thunderbolt technology makes use of the Copper wiring as transfer medium and not the optic Input output technology used in Light Peak as it won’t be possible to supply power through cable and can’t be used as a replacement of USB. Intel has managed to make both the light peak and thunderbolt reach up to 10 GB/sec and they are working on developing both the technologies to enable them reach speeds of up to 100 GB/sec.  As thunderbolt is designed to make use of both PCI Express as well as display port transfer protocols, they make use of a separate port which enables them to use both the channels efficiently. This technology is going to take computing into a different level and make the computers even faster.

Nvidia Kal-El

The Superhero from Krypton, Kal-El who is better known as Superman to us earthling no longer stays in Metropolis. Kal El will soon be a part of the tablets ant mobile phones. Isn’t all these a bit confusing?  Kal El Tegra 3 is the new upcoming processors from Nvidia, the experts in the field of Graphics Processing Units and Chipset technologies which is based in Santa Carla, California.

The Kal El Tegra 3 processors are designed especially for the tablets and the notebooks. These quad core processors are going to offer a stiff competition to the other players in the field. The announcement and demonstration of the Nvidia Kal El Tegra 3 processors come close to the heels of the recently announced Snapdragon quad core 2.5 GHz mobile processors by Qualcomm which has been received with much hype in the portable world. The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors are expected to be made available in the devices somewhere in the 2012. The Nvidia Kal El Tegra 3 processors also featuring four cores are the next generation processors after the Tegra 2 series of the Mobile processors by Nvidia. The Kal EL Tegra 3 processors, when compared to the previous Tegra 2 processors are more than 5 times superior in terms of the performance. The Kal El Tegra 3 SoC processor is packed with features and its specification includes four Cortex A9 processor cores which also includes twelve Graphics Processing Unit cores. It can support ultra HD resolutions ranging up to 2560X1600. It is Kal El’s generation now and as projected, the future superhero processors are going to be Wayne, Logan and Stark which will be available in few years. The Tegra 3 processors are faster than the T7200 Core 2 Duo desktop processors. One can expect to find the Kal El Tegra 3 powered devices on the shelves by mid 2011.

Unveiling HD on a Smartphone

Its specialized interface allows the user to browse all the media stored on the phone quickly while the phone’s HDMI out port allows all media to be easily viewed on any HDTV.

Another notable feature is the built-in 8.1 mega pixel camera. Having one of the highest mega pixel ratings available, the Arc allows users to take pictures at a quality that is usually only available with much larger cameras. The camera also supports 720p video, allowing for HD video recording.  An internal storage capacity of 512MB and microSD card support ensures you’ll have plenty of room for your video needs.

Additionally, the Sony Ericsson Arc has an impressive design. The phone offers a super sleek curved design that is only 8 millimeters at its thinnest point.  Designers underscore that it is perfectly designed to fit comfortably in the palm of a hand.

Running Android 2.3, the Arc by Sony Ericsson offers a multitude of features that is not customary on most smartphones.   The phone is sure to be a success as it hits the global marketplace.
