Android HoneyComb To Help Apple Competitors

Apple’s dominance over the tablet market has been pushing competitors to limit to launch a tablet that will have the same effect as Apple has on the market. Google was limited by its Android operating system which was meant for smartphones and not for tablets. The Android cell phone operating system has managed to overtake Blackberry, and Apple as the biggest smart phone OS in 2010. This operating system was specifically designed for tablets and is Android version 3.0.

The most important difference from the phone version of Android is that this is specifically designed from the bottom up for use on Tablets. It has been completely redesigned and the first tablet has already been launched with Honeycomb, the Motorola Xoom. The most distinguishing part about Android HoneyComb is that unlike Apple, this operating system allows the use of on screen widgets. This is an attractive quality with Android. Volvo advertises this as a personal safety device meant to keep owner’s from getting carjacked, but a car that knows who’s inside is maybe only one step away from becoming like Christine.

●      Parking Themselves

Lexus offers a self-parking option on it’s LS sedan. Drivers line up a square in the rear view camera with the desired parking spot and the car navigates around cars to back into the space. Drivers only need release and press the brake during this process. What kind of artificial intelligence does this invention require to park cars for us? A bit spooky, don’t you think?

●      Sensing Rain

Formerly only found on luxury cars, rain-sensing wipers have made their way onto more economical cars like the Toyota Avalon. Infared sensors “read” part of the windshield for moisture and dirt and turn on the wipers based on the level of moisture the driver inputs. Meant to sense rain, sometimes the wipers have minds of their own and spring to life at an unplanned time, scaring drivers out of their wits.

●      Cooling Down

In many vehicles, manufacturers have placed “cool zones” where drinks and other items can be placed to be kept cool. While automakers have stated the compartments aren’t meant to be refrigerated, one would think that the cool zone would at least stay cool in the summer. Nope. Cool zones get hot when the car is off during the summer heat�resulting in sticky, exploded messes inside vehicles–scary.

●      Opening Doors

Several minivans today have power-sliding doors that open and close at the push of a button. Rest assured there are safety measures in place that keep your toddlers from being smashed by a suddenly possessed door. The scariest thing about this feature is the pricing; power-sliding doors can add several hundred dollars to the price of a van and can cost just as much to repair.

●      Massaging Drivers and Stabilizing Passengers

In BMW’s Seven series drivers can enjoy a benefit of massage. Only the massage feels like your brain is going to vibrate right out of your skull. Mercedes-Benz seats have a feature that enables seats to inflate to keep passengers in place as the car corners. The frightening part is the seats don’t know the difference between a winding country road and a regular city intersection resulting in over-squeezed ribs.

As technology advances, these scary features will become the norm and automakers will employ new, more terrifying technologically advanced creations to scare the bejeezus out of drivers and passengers.

Apple Launches the New iPad

Apple’s famous founder and CEO took the stage on March 2nd to unveil the successor to the highly successful iPad. The iPad 2 will be facing a higher level of competition from other manufacturers than the iPad did. When last year the iPad was launched, there was hardly any competition. But the scenario has changed completely now with more equally matched tablets now in the market.

The new iPad comes with a dual core processor that is called as the A5, which runs at an unknown speed. This processor is told to have twice as much power as the older version of iPad which had an A4 processor. There are two new cameras. One camera at the back for taking pictures and one in front for video calling. The clarity of the cameras leaves a lot to be desired for. The screen resolution stands as the same old iPad, but the output clarity gives out at High Definition. The new iPad will come with a newer version of iOS. Steve Jobs took the stage to rub the success of iPad on its competitors.

He announced that the iPad has more than 65,000 applications as opposed to 3500 applications for Honeycomb from Android. They also announced that ipad has been the most successful of its product launches with more sales than that of the famous iPad.  The iPad is given the higher processor power to increase the gaming power of the device. The ipad has proved troublesome to other sole gaming consoles such as the PSP and Nintendo DS. Facetime has been activated which allows video conferencing between iPads, iPhone and iMacs. It does not have anything groundbreaking that is always expected of Apple.

WD Scorpio Blue

The hard drives for the computers are getting bigger and bigger everyday in terms of their capacity. The limit of the largest hard drives easily available ranges till 3 Tb and it is constantly growing. Compared to the desktop hard drives which are big in size, increasing the storage capacity of the notebook hard drives by keeping the size constant is a hard task and it is well achieved by Western Digital.
